350 Seattle

350 Seattle works toward climate justice by organizing people to make deep system change: resisting fossil fuels; building momentum for healthy alternatives; and fostering resilient, just, and welcoming communities. While we are affiliated with the global 350.org, in fact, 350 Seattle is a financially and strategically independent 501(c)3 Nonprofit organization that focuses on local campaigns and building the climate justice movement in the Pacific Northwest. 350 Seattle is also a member of two other groups of autonomous 350 organizations, 350 WA and the 350 Network Council because we believe collaboration is essential to movement building and successful campaigns.

350 Seattle coalesced around taking direct action preventing Shell’s Arctic Drilling fleet from leaving the Port of Seattle. For a decade, we have organized to bring transformational campaigns to life including Green New Deal efforts such as the "Solar Schools", one of the first campaigns in the nation to see a large urban school district fund climate resilience features into its capital construction bond; “Healthy Through Heat and Smoke” successfully advocating for 13 Seattle community centers to be retrofitted with solar and HVAC, and creating local green jobs with community workforce agreements; ‘Jumpstart tax’, a $20 million dollar annual investment in low-income clean energy upgrades. And we are just getting started.

We come together in this work out of deep love for people and the planet. In that spirit, we approach work and each other with commitment, compassion, and humility. How we work together shapes the world we’re building: you can read our 3-Year Strategic Plan, and take a deeper dive on our website. Our organization is in a moment of growth and transition - this job reflects what we anticipate our organization’s needs will be. We will work to adapt work-plans to reflect the orgs needs and the applicant's experience. We are creating a nimble, strategic, and adaptive organization that is responsive and integral to the local movement ecosystem.
